There has neve been so many digital tools available to determine the fitness of a contractor. With new electronic prequalification platforms there have come fresh issues that displease some contractors; they include fairness, the work and cost of submitting information and the ability to communicate with a real person when the third party platform collects the information.
Michael Allison, is one of a handful of safety professionals that co-founded One Touch Contracting says, ‘we were constantly being engaged by clients to help them through the minefield of prequalification, they were driving clients crazy. Taking so much time to gather and input information, and being forced to pay huge fees of up to $10,000 annually and no ability to discuss or question things with the third party’.
‘We decided to disrupt the market with prequalification software the didn’t break the bank for contractors. We sit at just $20 per month for contractors to get prequalified and no cost to the client; not the hundreds or thousands others were charging, not only that but all contractors within the system know they have free access to on call advice with any of our safety qualified team members during the prequalification process and while working on site’.
Lauren McIlvenie, Senior Consultant who also co-founded One Touch said, ‘there’s nothing else out there on the market like this, our software is more tailored to meet business requirements that reply on the expertise of industry experts and the human component. This allows for flexibility as opposed to unrealistic rigid criteria’.
She adds that, ‘even though technology is a large part of the One Touch prequalification platform, there’s no algorithms or codes, it’s us; safety professionals who are checking the documentation, speaking to contractors on the phone, updating them with monthly legislative updates, auditing them on site and conducting incident investigations on site’
